Breakthru Restructure & Merger
Breakthru
Financial turnaround and successful merger with Royal Rehab

In 2017 i-exchange Director, Chris Mowday, was appointed as interim Chief Financial Officer to assist the Board on developing a strategy to improve financial performance. This included a full review of operations, sites, service lines, IT, corporate services and management performance. During his initial engagement, Chris facilitated a financial turn-around, delivering a break even end of year result in 9 months, following a year to date deficit of $2.2 million at engagement.
In 2021, Chris was re-engaged to provide strategic advice on a growth strategy. Chris worked directly with the Breakthru Board on initial merger considerations, detailed assessment of merger opportunities through to final selection and merger agreement considerations. This resulted in a successful merger with Royal Rehab in November 2021.
MBC Employment - Business Divestment
MBC Employment
MBC Employment joins atWork Australia

MBC Employment is a high performing Disability Employment Services (DES) and jobactive provider in the Illawarra and Capital Region. MBC’s owners were seeking to sell the business to an organisation that would continue to provide high quality services to clients. Our Team was engaged by the CEO to identify a quality provider who would purchase the business, while providing a seamless transition for clients and staff.
Our targeted approach and ongoing support throughout the process ensured that the merger with atWork Australia proceeded quickly, with a high multiple secured for the vendor. The MBC Employment brand was retained in existing delivery locations, with back office functions integrated into the new structure. Crucially, existing staff were transferred to the new provider with their existing conditions maintained, and a number of senior leaders remained and were incorporated into atWork Australia's Senior Leadership Team.
Queensland Rail Train Manufacturing Procurement
Downer
Downer was named as preferred supplier to deliver the $7 billion program

i-exchange led the development of Government Policy Strategy for Downer and Consortium partners including the Social Enterprise Strategy, Local Industry Strategy and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Participation Strategy. Women's Health Business Case
Womens Health NSW
Our work resulted in the sector's first real funding increase since 1986

In 2022, i-exchange was engaged by Women’s Health NSW to prepare a Business Case for a 100% funding increase for presentation to the NSW Minister for Health.
The project required extensive research, consultation and collaborative work with the 20 independent Women’s Health Centre organisations across NSW. i-exchange facilitated workshops with Women’s Health CEOs and Senior Managers to develop the first ever full cost financial model for the sector, an analysis of social value and presentation of the evidence-base for the holistic service model.
Following review of the Business Case, the NSW Labor Party announced a doubling of funding for NSW Women’s Health Centres as a key part of their 2023 election platform. The real funding increase – the sector’s first since 1986 – was delivered in the 2023-24 NSW Budget.
